I am a wife, mother, friend, and reading-obsessed woman at midlife. I have a love of the written word that can best be described as obsessive-compulsive. Residing in the suburbs of New York City, in Northern NJ, I spend most of my time stalking Facebook, reading books, every online article, blog, RSS Feed and HGTV kitchen and bath renovation post in cyberspace and avoiding housework and exercise like a boss. I’m currently stocking my private library collection with more paper books than I will ever be able to read in my lifetime and hoarding free digital content on my Kindle.
I’m trying hard to learn how to live a simpler life, after years of doing too much and saying yes to everyone and everything. I am happily at home and no longer sitting on my ass behind a desk. I’m attempting to be more frugal, more mindful of all I am grateful for, and a happier person overall (this is tough-I suffer from dysthymia.) I am choosing not to define myself by a job title anymore and to just be.
Make sure to leave a comment if you visit; I love hearing from others out there.
We seem to be cut from the same mold! Menopausal, trying to live a simplier life, looking for the joy. It’s nice to meet you! Joanne
And very nice to meet you too, Joanne. Your blog posts (the couple I’ve read already) make me feel very peaceful. Namaste. Lisa
I keep meaning to post an entry for the Mental Health blog, I have a few on my blog esp. re Anxiety etc. I hope I remember to do it now. I give you credit for giving up Facebook. Other than that, I love reading, am over menopause and live in the suburbs. Empty Nester describes us, it’s all a process as everything is. Thankful for each day. Love your blog. Peace and blessings. Laurie
Thank you for your comment, Laurie. I’ll never quite be an empty nester, as I have a developmentally disabled adult daughter who functions at about a 10 year old level. But, yes, it does describe most of us. I also enjoy reading your blog posts. 😀
sounds like you have chosen a path that will bring greater happiness.
stick with it even on the cloudy days and you will find it.
I enjoyed reading your post and blog!

Thanks for your kindness, David. The blog has basically been an exercise in self-therapy, I think 😀 I do like to write, but not so sure if blogging is the right forum.
Hi and thanks for visiting my blog and reading my post. I love your description above and I will have a look around your blog.
